KEELING – Michael Edward Allis
(6 November 1925 – 28 July 2017)
It was claimed of Michael Keeling that he never missed a catch at Eton. He opened in the 1942 and 1943 Elevens, including 101 not out against the Forty Club, whose attack included Gubby Allen and Buns Cartwright.
He made 129 and 65 for the Lord’s Schools against the Rest, and 55 in the one day University match for Oxford in 1944.
In 1964 he revived a remarkable tradition, started before the war by his father, of fielding a family team to play Sedlescombe in Surrey. In 2016 the team consisted of his eight sons and their children.
