4 June 2016 v Guards
The Ramblers performance against the Guards was a thoroughly competent all round performance, although Christopher Horne’s solitary over, before lunch, during which two distinguished Ramblers dropped catches (one straightforward, the other slightly less so) is, by agreement, never to be mentioned again. Henry Richards was too quick on a very lively wicket and the Guards’ lower order batting was found lacking, after the most competent Guardsman missed a Toby Joy full toss.Alex Ball, elegantly, and Jack Halstead, brutally, ensured that almost the whole side, and lady support, spent a very pleasant early evening in the Coopers Arms, celebrating a ten wicket victory.
